Jon Fistein has been playing the cello since the age of four. He won an Instrumental Exhibition at Jesus College, Cambridge, and an Imperial College / Royal College of Music Scholarship. His teachers included Amaryllis Fleming, William Pleeth, Alexander Baillie and Stefan Popov.
Jon has performed concertos and given recitals across the UK and Europe. He is particularly keen to introduce English romantic chamber music to new audiences. He also works as a freelance orchestral cellist and as a session musician. He teaches private pupils of all ages and standards.
He is a founder member of the Anglian Ensemble and he works closely with contemporary composers to commission new works for the cello. Please see here for information about his current project to commission and record David Earl's second cello sonata.
